Kelly Clarkson recently got honest about what not to do if you’re dating her. During a conversation on her talk show, the Voice coach shared a story about someone she dated in the past.
It was part of Kelly’s Valentine’s Day episode, which featured Sarah Chalke, Kym Whitley, and various fans talking about their love lives and being single.

“What’s something that you pretended to be cool with that you weren’t cool with while in a relationship?” one fan asked the ladies during the show. Kelly replied by sharing something her ex did.

“I dated this guy, and I think because I’m a singer-songwriter … they feel like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna write her a song,'” Kelly explained, before adding simply, “And … don’t.”
Following Kelly’s divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, this advice could be relevant to her future dates. We wonder if the same thing would apply were she to start seeing a fellow musician. Would there be a duet in their future?
Kelly Shares How She ‘Dates’ Herself
Another fan asked the women to share what they do on dates with themselves. Kelly shared that hers is pretty simple — she drinks a glass of wine.
Kelly added that she likes to put the fireplace on in her bedroom, saying, “That’s right, I work hard, I have a fireplace in my bedroom, that’s fine.” She’ll read a book or watch Netflix, or even “hang out with my girls.”

“I love just having one or two glasses,” she said. “You know, a respectable amount. And having fun.”
Kym Whitley had a more NSFW answer, sharing that she sends her son away and gets “some fresh batteries for my toys.” That prompted Kelly to joke that she notices when the batteries are missing from her friend’s remotes, saying, “I’m like, ‘Where are they?'”
