The X Factor UK is reminiscing once again on one of their most successful groups. After releasing Harry Styles extended cut audition earlier this month, the show has followed suit by releasing Liam Payne’s audition.

One Direction fans are discovering Liam Payne’s X Factor UK audition once again once all forms of social media. Since releasing Harry Styles’s extended cut audition, The X Factor UK has released the same for Payne.

At the beginning of the throwback clip, the singer admits that he originally auditioned for the show in 2008 and made it to the Judges Houses round, but was rejected by Simon Cowell. Payne admitted that Cowell was right with his decision. After two years of practice, the 16 year old was ready to show off his skills once again.

In the iconic audition, Payne sang “Cry Me a River” by Michael Bublé. This was probably the best song that he could’ve picked for the audition. He radiated confidence and strong skills throughout the entire extended cut performance.

Audience members and judges were seen approving of the singer throughout the entire audition. At the end of the performance, Payne was given a standing ovation.

“He wasn’t quite ready when he came to my house two years ago, but I said to him then come back in two years time and you’re going to be a different person,” Cowell commented. “I was right.”

After the audience clapped for Cowell’s discretion, he admitted that Bublé may have competition in the future. He was told that his rendition of the song was right on the money. Even though the judges typically don’t like singers that try to recreate others, they didn’t mind it with this singer.

Payne’s Journey on The X Factor UK

Later on in the compeition, Payne was unable to secure a place in the ‘Boys’ category of the competition. Instead, Nicole Scherzinger suggested to pair Payne with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan. They went on to qualify for the “Group’ category and earn third place of the season. The rest seems to be history for this group, since their success came soon after their season ended.

In August 2015, it was announced that the members of One Direction split ways. Soon after the group’s split, Payne signed with Republic Records. Reportedly, he’s sold over 18 million singles since One Direction’s hiatus, on top of that, he’s earned over 3.9 billion career streams in under three years.

In present day, Payne is still active in the music industry. Though this singer’s last release was in 2021, he’s revealed that he has been quite busy. Fans cannot wait to hear more music from Payne in the future.
