The 2023 Met Gala took place on Monday night, with celebrities gathering to show off looks inspired by this year’s theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Lagerfeld, who was known for his work at the legendary fashion brand Chanel, passed away in 2019. Let’s check out some of the best looks from this year’s event.
The Best 2023 Met Gala Looks
1. Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa was a co-host at this year’s event, and she showed up in quintessential Chanel. The vintage tweed gown was accessorized by a statement necklace and simple hair and makeup.
2. Cardi B
Cardi B arrived to Monday’s event in a glamorous Chen Peng gown that channeled Lagerfeld’s iconic style, right down to the gray hair. She accessorized with long gloves and eye-catching earrings.
3. Usher
Usher also turned to Lagerfeld himself for inspiration, as he wore a black suit by Bianca Saunders, accessorized by matching gloves and some serious bling at his neck and on his shoes.
4. Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway delivered a Chanel-inspired look that was actually designed by Versace. The tweed gown was accented by gold safety pins, and Hathaway held a matching jacket over her shoulder. Her ’60s-style hair only improved the look.
5. Rihanna
Rihanna never fails to make a statement at the Met Gala. This year, she showed off her baby bump in a white Valentino gown with a cape designed to look like flowers. The long train and matching white gloves added to the drama.

7. Michaela Coel
Michaela Coel was another co-host during Monday night’s event. The actress was bejeweled head to toe in a Shiaparelli gown inspired by Lagerfeld’s jewelry. The look featured 26,500 stones and 135,000 golden crystals.
8. Jeremy Pope
One of the biggest statements of the night came from actor Jeremy Pope, who showed up in a long cape by Balmain that featured Lagerfeld’s image. The dramatic train was 10 meters long.
9. Doja Cat
Doja Cat lived up to her name in a look inspired by Lagerfeld’s cate Choupette. Not only did her glittery gown have a hood with cat ears, but she also wore makeup to make her look even more feline.
