‘American Idol’ Judges Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj Share Cute Moment at the Met Gala

Current American Idol judge Katy Perry met up with former judge Nicki Minaj on the red carpet at Monday’s Met Gala. The pair shared a cute moment complimenting each other and bonding over becoming mothers.

Perry shared several posts on social media Monday night showing off her Met Gala look and how she got ready for the night. She also included a video from the red carpet with former American Idol judge Nicki Minaj, in which she says, “I’m a Barb, everybody knows.”

“I just saw this lady standing here with very sexy legs and feet, and it was her,” Minaj says to the camera. She also tells Perry that she loves her and adds that the singer “still has the best boobs in the business.”

Meanwhile, Perry points out that both she and Minaj are mothers now. Perry gave birth to her daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom in August 2020, and Minaj welcomed her son with husband Kenneth Petty just a month later.

For Monday’s event, Perry wore an Oscar de la Renta dress, while Minaj wore Burberry, accessorizing her look with a leather baseball cap and gems all over her face, chest, and arms.

The Two Artists Have Collaborated in the Past

In addition to their shared experience as panelists on American Idol (Minaj judged the show in Season 12 alongside Mariah Carey), the two women have also collaborated on music in the past.

Minaj was a featured artist on Perry’s song “Swish Swish” in 2017. Back in 2010, they also teamed up to perform “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper during the VH1 Divas Salute the Troops special.

Fans are awaiting news of Minaj’s fifth studio album, as she recently released the singles “Do We Have a Problem?” and “Bussin.” Meanwhile, Perry’s most recent album was 2020’s Smile. She recently released the single “When I’m Gone” with Alesso.
