Talent Recap Talks With The One And Only ‘Voice’ Winner Sundance Head
There have been many people who have graced The Voice‘s stage and there have been over a dozen winners, but few if any are as memorable as Sundance Head. Not only is he an amazing performer, songwriter, and guitar player, but he’s also loads of fun to watch. That beard, the sense of humor, and easy charm are big reasons why he won season 11 of The Voice. Yesterday he and I sat down for a conversation.
Sundance and I are both from the Houston area and I grew up listening to his father Roy Head’s music. His dad’s song Treat Her Right was a fixture at any country themed anything in the 80’s when I was a kid. I talked to Sundance about growing up in Houston and how he got to go to Gilley’s, (a legendary honky tonky featured in the John Travolta film Urban Cowboy), and I never did. I guess that’s what happens when you are the son of a country music icon and not a surgeon. Stupid dad.
We also talked about his musical influences, his new album, and touring with Blake Shelton. He also told us that Blake cheats at basketball. Then we discussed the all important question of whether or not chili should have beans.
