Sydney Sweeney Opens Up About Her Love for Working on Old Cars
During her recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Sweeney discussed her interest in old cars. The Madame Web actress primarily credits her best friend Jay’s father.
“Her dad builds and restores classic Porsches and I bought tis Ford Bronco and I called him up, and he’s been like a second, dad to me my whole life,” she said. “And I was like, ‘Hey, I bought this old car. I want to fix it up but I kind of want to learn how to do it myself.’ So he let me bring it into the shop and he just walked me through every step, and we changed the transmissions, and the brakes, and the interior.”
Fascinated by her, Clarkson admits that Sweeney keeps “getting hotter as the conversation goes on.” Sweeney, however, most especially accounts her bold spirits to her mother. According to the Anyone But You star, her mom has always wanted her to “be independent and not rely on anybody else.”
“If we were driving, like, I was learning how to drive a car. She only let me drive a manual until I got my license. She made me learn how to change my tire even if my tire didn’t need to get changed,” she said.
Then, the actress detailed how the cast members of Anyone But You were directed to drive manual on the wrong side of the road.
“They actually tested every single person on the cast if they could drive a manual but on the opposite side of the road. And guess what I’m the only one who could,” she said.
Indeed, Sweeney has her mom to thank for the strict and eager driving lessons she was able to ace.
She Talks Their Family Traditions During Christmas
Elsewhere in the interview, Sweeney also talked about their adorable family traditions for the holidays. According to the actress, their Christmas consists of having a a movie marathon.
“We have a lot of traditions, we wear matching onesies. I get onesies for my entire family,” she said. “We usually start watching [Harry Potter]and we just watch every single one.”
Furthermore, Sweeney also detailed how she bought their old house back.
“My great grandma had this beautiful house. It’s like a two-bedroom, cute house where they lived in,” she said. “My grandma was born [there]. My mom was born in it and then as the kids got older, they built on the property another home and when my great grandpa passed away and my great grandma got old, they just couldn’t afford to keep it anymore. Last year, I called up the owners and said that I want to buy my great grandma’s house back.”
