Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney to Star in Spider-Heroine Film ‘Madame Web’

Dakota Johnson has just been added to the Spider-Man universe. Sony Pictures released the first trailer for its upcoming superhero movie Madame Web, introducing Johnson as a paramedic who has the ability to see the future.

The film sees the origin of Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who possesses clairvoyant abilities. As she was forced to recount her past, she establishes a relationship with a group of girls. These young women will be played by Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced.

“Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” the synopsis reads. “Forced to confront revelations about her past, [Casandra] forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

Utilizing her newly discovered powers, Cassandra tries to rescue the girls at a local diner. As she does, she’s already predicted that she’d be confronted by a murderous Spider-Man dressed in a black suit. Later, she realizes that the man behind the mask is Ezekiel Sims (Tahar Rahim). Subsequently, Cassandra recalls him to be the person who once worked with er mother “when she was researching spiders” before she died. 


In the trailer, Sims reveals his reasons for wanting to kill the girls, then warning Cassandra that she has “no idea what those girls become.” Nonetheless, it was shown that Cassandra refused to believe Sims, deciding to save them still.

Directed by SJ Clarkson, Madame Web also stars Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott. The film swings into theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.

Fans Are Excited to Watch the Movie

Soon after seeing the trailer of Madame Web, fans quickly expressed their excitement for the movie. Several fans are also praising Sony for coming up with the idea of a Spider-Man spinoff.


“Sony attempting to build a Spider-Man cinematic universe that doesn’t actually feature Spider-Man is definitely one of the ideas of all time,” one person wrote.

“I am absolutely blown away by the trailer for this movie. It has exceeded all of my expectations and now I am completely convinced to see it,” another person commented.

“Well that was more interesting than I thought it would be. I’m intrigued,” another person wrote.

By the looks of it, many fans already have high hopes for the plot of the movie. Be that as it may, they are yet to see the complexities of Madame Web’s world next year.
