The next season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is right around the corner. The first ever all winner season premieres on Paramount + on May 20. This iconic season features huge names in the Drag Race franchise including Trinity The Tuck, Yvie Oddly, Raja, and more.

Ahead of the next RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season, four of the eight queens sat down to talk about the upcoming season. Since this is such a unique season, the four queens explained the reason behind their return to the stage.

Monét X Change, Shea Couleé, Yvie Oddly and Raja Discuss Their Return to The RuPaul’s Drag Race Stage

Out of the four, Raja is the eldest winner. She received her crown in season three of RuPaul’s Drag Race (2011). This is her first time returning to the drag stage since her iconic 2011 win. Plain and simple, she’s ready to prove that she still has it. With three maxi and two mini challenge wins under her belt, Raja hopes to impress on the stage once again.

Differing from Raja, season 11 winner Yvie Oddly previously stated that she wouldn’t want to return to an all winners season.

“You’re competing with people who not only are excellent…but who have proven excellence and have the confidence of it,” Yvie said on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “There’s no room for error. However, I’m not gonna let that stop me from going in, winning a crown or two.”

Even though the queen expressed that there’s no room for error, she is clearly ready to bring her A game once again. Shea Couleé agrees with Yvie about the competition being hard. While it may be hard, she’s determined to bring her best in the upcoming season.

Monét X Change is just as determined as Shea for the upcoming season. The reason behind her return to the stage is quite simple. In RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 she shared the crown with Trinity The Tuck. Monét is ready to prove that she’s good enough to have her own personal crown.

The Queens Reminisque on Winning Their Previous Seasons

While discussing their return to the franchise, the queens also looked back at their prior competition. While some queens like Raja have been doing drag for 30 years, others mentioned how their lives changed after the fact.

One of the queens that had the biggest awakening after her win was Yvie. Following her season 11 win she returned to Denver, Colorado. She celebrated her win there and explained that it was the time she finally felt like fulfilled. Before her win she felt as if she didn’t fit in because she wanted something more in life.

In turn, Monét’s family found out she did drag because of the competition series. Ahead of competing on the series, she used working in the arts as her reason behind her drag collection. Two weeks before the show aired Monét told her mother about her love for drag. Since then, her family has been supportive of both her and the art. Monét’s family still watch the show today.
