The biggest name in drag has officially made it into the Hollywood history books. At the 73rd Annual Primetime Emmy Ceremony, RuPaul won his 11th Emmy Award. This makes RuPaul the most decorated black artist in the history of the Emmy Awards.
RuPaul won yet another award for hosting his show, RuPaul’s Drag Race. This was his fifth time in the row winning the Emmy Award for outstanding host. This drag icon was seen accompanied by drag queens, Symone, Gottmik, and Michelle Visage. People literally bowed for RuPaul and his posse on their way to the stage.
“Really thanks to all of our lovely children on our show from around the world,” he said. “You know, they are so gracious to tell their stories of courage and how to navigate this difficult life even more difficult today. This is for you and for you kids out there watching. You have a tribe that is waiting for you, we are waiting for you baby. Come to Mama Ru.”
Instead of mentioning his win as a history event, he took the time to remind everyone that this show is for people trying to navigate through this tough life. He dedicated this award to the drag queens on the show, and the children who will go on to tell their courageous stories.
