‘The Masked Singer’ Season 2 Preview: FIRST LOOK at the Costumes!
Ahead of the premiere this fall, The Masked Singer just dropped its first season 2 previews! And not only did we get a first look, but we also got to see SIX of the new costumes. Plus, there’s a little singing even to whet our appetites!
Watch the preview video below, then we’ll break down the new costumes.
First of all, I just have to say how excited this makes us for the second season. The Masked Singer season 2 will be even more epic than the first! Now that the producers have had a chance to see it all play out, I’m sure some of the initial kinks will be gone too. Even during the first season, they learned from their mistakes as it happened! Like I’m sure we won’t see the return of heights being given out. But the mystery and guessing game will stay true, as will the big name celebrities joining the show.
And aside from that, these new costumes are amazing. Let’s look at each one and what clues they could give about the celebrities underneath!
This Skeleton costume is quite a way to start. And it’s the only one we have a head-to-toe look at already! From the top hat to the golden ribs to the rad bone gloves and shoes, it’s giving us serious Día de los Muertos vibes. Could that be a clue that this is someone of Mexican origin?
While we don’t get a shot of the Eagle’s full face, the wings are unreal. And by unreal we mean that they actually look real. There aren’t many clues given just from the costume alone, but the Eagle seems to be larger than life. The Eagle also makes me think this celebrity has a connection to Philadelphia, like the Raven did last season to Baltimore.
From the body shape alone, the Flamingo has to be a woman…right? I’m thinking someone outspoken and loud. You have to be a character to rock this many sequins and feathers! The face creeps me out, but overall still a solid, show-y costume for the Flamingo.
We’re bringing the Rabbit vibes back for season 2 of The Masked Singer! “Mr. Fox”‘s character has a robotic eye and face reminiscent of Two-Face. And we already have our second top hat in a costume. But I’m mostly just hoping this “twisted” animal theme means it’ll be another boy band member, like last season’s Joey Fatone. Lance Bass, AJ McLean and the Lachey brothers, we’re looking at you. Or even better, what about Donnie Wahlberg?
This has been the most talked-about costume already, the Egg! Host Nick Cannon and a few of the judges have all teased the breakfast food-related character. And it’s easy to see why. This is an absolutely ridiculous costume. I mean everything white, then the hat on top with a yolk and all? But we already have one guess on who could be underneath the Egg mask. Could it be right?
The Leopard we’ve seen the least of from these two previews. The screenshot above came from about half a second of footage in one of them. But the Leopard is in Shakespearean-era clothing in this clip. The costume alone makes me think it could be an athlete, someone known for being fast. The clothing, on the other hand, lends itself to someone royal or theatrical.
This costume is EPIC! Look at all the glitter and the attention to detail in the wings. We are here for it! The entire costume is a little more form-fitting so I think it’s safe to assume that this performer is a woman. But other than that, we really have nothing to go off of. Obviously, though, comparisons could be made to having a “transformation” or a “metamorphosis” so maybe that will play a part in her backstory.
I am loving the look of the panda, decked out in pastels and a beanie. My guess, from nothing other than the look, is that this is either an athlete or a comedian. Pandas are native to China, so could it be an Asian celebrity? We talked about the possibility of a BTS member being on The Masked Singer last season but it never happened. Could this be it? We know fans would go WILD!
Well if these costumes are any indication, it will be a great second season. Read everything you need to know about The Masked Singer season 2 then tune in this fall. The show will air Wednesdays at 8/7c on FOX, starting September 25th.
