Reading Time: 2 minutes
Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey is back, and she just announced that she’s releasing a new song to get us into the yuletide spirit this year. In addition to the new tune, she’ll be starring in another Christmas special streaming on AppleTV+ this December.
Even though Christmas is almost two months away, some fans can’t help but start blasting Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on repeat as soon as Halloween is over. Carey herself embraces her association with the holiday.
Mariah Carey Announces New Christmas Song, Special
Carey announced that she’s releasing a new song called “Fall in Love at Christmas” this Friday, November 5. The track is a collaboration with Khalid and Kirk Franklin. She shared a preview of the song, which features the kind of out-of-this-world high note we’ve come to expect from the singer.
The art to go along with Carey’s announcement shows adorable old photos of her, Khalid, and Franklin as kids around the holidays. Fans can pre-save the song now and even order a limited edition CD.
Carey will perform the new song with her collaborators in an upcoming AppleTV+ Christmas special. The program will be called Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues, and it’s a follow-up to last year’s Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.

What Happened in Last Year’s Christmas Special?
Last year, Mariah Carey premiered a Christmas special on AppleTV+, featuring special guests such as Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Snoop Dogg. With the North Pole worried that Christmas cheer isn’t high enough, Carey decides to put on a concert to boost spirits.
Carey performed various Christmas songs throughout the special, finishing with her iconic track “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The song was originally released in 1994, but people still can’t get enough of it when Christmas rolls around each year.
In 2019, the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time. It was the first time a Christmas song held that spot in 60 years. Carey’s new song probably won’t become quite as iconic, but it’s still exciting to have something new to add to our playlists this time of year.
