Just How Much Did Lionel Richie And Luke Bryan End Up Getting For ‘American Idol’?

We all heard and were shocked when Katy Perry was given 25 million dollars to be a judge on ABC’s reboot of American Idol. Another 15 million for Ryan Seacrest to host left not much for the other two judges. So, how much did they offer Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan to entice them to come on board?

The number we keep seeing is 7 million. That’s not official but, again, the number keeps popping up. Apparently, they were offered much less and refused. So, 7 million and a deal with ABC’s parent company Disney seemed to be enough to get them to sign. Of course, 7 million as compared to 25 million seems pretty unfair. But that was what ABC thought Katy Perry was worth. Needless to say American Idol had to greatly expand its original budget.

One thing I’m sure of is that ABC is REALLY hoping the show is popular. It’s not like back in the day when American Idol was the only game in town. With The Voice, The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, and the dancing shows, there is a lot of talent competition…er…competition. If this doesn’t pay off for ABC they will definitely be in trouble.
