John Legend Continues His Fight Against Trump — Rallies For Elizabeth Warren
Reading Time: 4 minutes
The Voice coach John Legend has made it clear which candidate he supports in the Democratic presidential primaries — Sen. Elizabeth Warren. He campaigned for Warren in South Carolina last month but did his support help Warren? And keep scrolling to see the entire beef Chrissy and John Legend have with Donald Trump.
He and Warren sat down together for a conversation, which the candidate posted on her Twitter account ahead of Super Tuesday. In addition to politics, they spoke about their very different experiences with music.
John Legend Campaigns For Elizabeth Warren
Sen. Warren told John that her mother used to play the piano, and her brother had a great singing voice. But the family said she “can’t carry a tune in a bucket.” John then shared his own experience with music, which was obviously more positive.
John also shared how he grew up reading about activists like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and listening to like Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone, who fought for justice. “And so I always thought that was part and parcel of what being an artist was,” he explained.
The singer said he saw the same “ability to inspire” in Warren that he saw in former President Barack Obama. “I want someone brilliant. I want someone empathetic. I want someone with a plan,” John said in a speech to voters, encouraging them to vote for Warren in the primaries.
The Voice coach also spoke about his obsession with Star Search because, at the end of it, the winner got a $500 shopping spree. John eventually ended up winning the competition and Elizabeth asked John the question we all couldn’t stop thinking about “What did you buy?”
To which he said, “a lot of clothes.”
How Did Warren Do On Super Tuesday?
Warren’s showing in Super Tuesday (in which 14 U.S. states cast primary ballots) was disappointing for many of her supporters.
The senator has reportedly earned 50 delegates so far, which is far behind frontrunners Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders (who have 453 and 382, respectively). She also finished third place in her home state of Massachusetts.
According to The Hill, Warren is taking Wednesday to meet with her team and “assess the path forward” in her campaign. We’ll have to wait and see if she chooses to stay in the election or drop out.
John’s Legendary Beef With Donald Trump
It is no surprise that John Legend and his filthy mouth wife Chrissy Teigen have always stood against everything Donald Trump. In July 2019, when Trump unleashed his feelings about Rep. Elijah Cummings, calling Baltimore “a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess,” he really triggered John Legend.
Right after Trump’s Tweet, TMZ caught The Voice coach on camera and boy was he pissed.
Our president is a flaming racist. He’s a piece of sh*t. He says piece of s***,s*** all the time. That’s what he does.”John Legend
“There’s a lot that can be done, it’s got over a century of history that created the problems that they have, and we need to focus on making all of our communities better instead of talking shit about our communities just because you’re a racist prick. Donald Trump is an evil f*****g canker sore on America’s whole landscape, so we need to get him out of office,” he told TMZ.
Legend concluded the TMZ sidewalk talk by saying that Donald Trump should be impeached from Office immediately.
Chrissy Teigen Is Still Blocked By Donald Trump
John’s wife and Bring The Funny judge Chrissy Teigen has a history of her own with Donald Trump. A history that resulted in Trump blocking Chrissy. Now over the years, Chrissy has said a lot of offensive things about Trump. Trump too has not held back but this tweet apparently hit trump real hard.
^This in history will forever be the last Tweet before Trump blocked her.
That said, don’t forget that in 2018, both Chrissy and John donated three-hundred thousand dollars to The American Civil Liberties Union as a gift to Trump for his 72nd birthday.
