How Does the Show Work?

Bring the Funny is searching for “the next big name in comedy.” Acts range from sketch comedy to variety shows to stand-up. It’s all on the same stage here! And it doesn’t see like they’ll split them up either so everyone has to bring their best to every performance. The performers will all be competing for a $250,000 prize!

This is like next level Last Comic Standing. The set looks like an actual comedy club too, so I think it will be a fun change to the usual competition show. They can be in their element! Plus, comedians infamously get beat out by singers and magicians on America’s Got Talent. It’s about time they got their own show!

Who Are the Host and Judges?

The show got together quite the lineup of stars! Comedienne Amanda Seales will host the show. Amanda, formerly Amanda Diva, is a stand-up comedian and television star. She is best known for her HBO comedy special I Be Knowin’ and her recurring role on the TV show Insecure. She also hosts her own show on TruTV called Greatest Ever.

Bring the Funny‘s judges are Chrissy Teigen (whose husband John Legend is also on an NBC show), Jeff Foxworthy (who used to host Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? on NBC), and Kenan Thompson (who is a current cast member on Saturday Night Live, also airing on NBC). These are some comedic heavy-hitters! Chrissy isn’t a comedian by traditional standards, but she is known for her humor on Twitter and online. Jeff Foxworthy built his career on comedy, most notably as part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. And Kenan Thompson is one of the longest-running members of the SNL cast. He previously appeared on All That and, of course, Good Burger.

Where Can I Watch?

The new comedy competition Bring the Funny kicks off on July 9th! It will air Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC. For more information, visit the show’s website.
