Kelly Clarkson has officially returned to her “Studio Sessions” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. During a recent show, Clarkson spoke about no longer filming her talk show, joking about NBC’s HR meetings.
Kelly Clarkson Jokes About Talk Show Ending
Earlier this year, Kelly Clarkson announced that her eponymous talk show would be coming to an end after the seventh season. Clarkson has wrapped filming on the final episodes, which will continue to air until later this year.
In a video from Clarkson’s Vegas residency, she can be seen stroking the sleeve of a fan’s sequined jacket and joking, “I would get fired at NBC, but I don’t work there anymore.”
“Which we are sad about. It’s a fun show,” Clarkson clarified, before adding, “It is funny, you go to those HR meetings, and you’re like, ‘Nobody on the road would last.’ It’s a different world, you know? I’m like, ‘I was 19 on a bus with dudes. What? I can’t do what?'”
Clarkson went on to say that HR advised “dumb sh*t,” like not commenting if someone has lost weight. As Clarkson joked, “B*tch, you better write a memo about it, write a song about it. I just think that’s so dumb. That makes people feel good … And then people are like, ‘No, ’cause that means you meant they did look really bad.’ Or it just means it’s improved.”
Kelly Clarkson made sure to tell the audience that she was “just kidding” about her complaints, sharing, “Actually, everyone hated doing HR meetings with me, because I am a nerd. I would stop the class, and everyone would be like, ‘Can I do the meeting without Kelly?'”
The singer explained that she “would get into it,” because “you gotta protect everyone.” She joked that the people who led the HR meetings would be “sweating” over her presence. Clarkson called herself a “curious cat.”
