America’s Got Talent is introducing a new round in Season 21 called Judges’ Callbacks. This will help the panel determine which acts should move on to the live shows, now that auditions for the season have officially wrapped up.
What Is the AGT Judges’ Callbacks Round?
Season 21 of AGT will feature a new round called Judges’ Callbacks, which begins August 4 on NBC. During this week’s new episode, auditions for the season wrapped up, and the judges began deliberating about which acts should move on to the live shows.
There will be 44 acts in the live shows, 10 of which have already been decided by the Golden Buzzer. To help the panel narrow down the other 34 acts who will move on, the judges will choose several acts to see again before making their decision.
According to NBC Insider, these acts will actually spend time at the judges’ homes as they perform again for their chance to earn a spot in the Season 21 live shows. Some of the returning acts that were teased during this week’s show include the Elektro Dads, Vahtang, Butter & Grit, and Olivia Befus.
“I really learnt a lot from spending time with them,” judge Simon Cowell said of his chosen acts. “I spent one day with all of them just talking and getting to know them, a lot about them. And then the following day they all performed in my garden.”
Now that auditions are over, what does the schedule look like for the rest of AGT Season 21? As teased at the end of this week’s episode, next week’s show will reveal which acts moved on to the live shows, presumably without including the acts featured in the Judges’ Callbacks.
The following week, on August 4, the new round will begin. This episode is titled “Judges’ Callbacks 1,” so there will likely be a second episode for this round the next week, on August 11. Then on August 18, the Season 21 live shows will begin, as fans at home will be able to vote for their favorite acts.
