JoJo Siwa made history on Dancing with the Stars this season as the first celebrity to dance with a same-sex partner. She and Jenna Johnson have put on some amazing performances and even received the season’s first perfect score.
In a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Johnson shared her honest feelings about dancing with a female partner, admitting she was “a little bit nervous” about it at first.

Johnson called Siwa “a dream” as a dance partner, but she confessed, “I’m embarrassed to say that when I first found out I would be dancing with a female, I was a little bit nervous, just how everyone was going to take it, what the response was gonna be.”
However, she “immediately said yes,” adding that Siwa’s courage gave her the strength to embrace something new. “I can’t even remember what it’s like to dance with a guy anymore,” she said. “I’m like, that’s old news.”
Siwa even revealed that Johnson texted her the other day while she was prepping a dance with a male dancer, telling Siwa, “I miss my partner. I just want to do this dance with you.”

Siwa Made Sure Her ‘It’ Clown Makeup Was Scary
For Horror Night earlier in the season, Siwa and Johnson danced a Jazz routine themed to It. Siwa dressed like Pennywise the clown, complete with makeup and a red balloon. She told DeGeneres she insisted on the authentically scary look.
“They wanted me actually to look like a pretty version of Pennywise,” Siwa explained. “And I sat down, and I was like, no. I was like, ‘I have to be terrifying and ugly tonight.’ And they were like, ‘All right. You asked for it.'”
Siwa went all out, having her teeth painted and wearing contacts to complete the spooky look. It paid off, because the routine earned a perfect score from the judges.
Even scarier than Siwa’s clown makeup was her place in the Bottom Two during this week’s show. She and Johnson earned a 39 out of 40 for their Tango, but they still fell behind in the votes. It just goes to show how competitive this season is turning out to be.
