Britain’s Got Talent was reportedly planning to welcome Graham Norton as a judge to replace David Walliams. However, a source recently shared that Norton turned down the gig. It’s still not clear who will take Walliams’ place on the panel.

Graham Norton Turns Down BGT Judging Gig

In November, BGT judge David Walliams caused controversy when derogatory comments he made during the show’s taping in 2020 went public. Rumors have swirled since then that Walliams is leaving the show after 10 years.

Several names have been thrown around when discussing a replacement for Walliams on the judging panel. Former judge Piers Morgan even threw his hat in the ring. According to a new report, the show was in talks with TV host Graham Norton.

“Bosses had their hearts set on Graham,” a source told The Sun. “He is so popular with viewers and would make a great addition. Money was not the issue but, after some thought, Graham realized it was not a project he wanted to take on right now.”

With filming for Series 16 set to start soon, the race is on to find a fourth judge to join Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and Amanda Holden. BGT has reportedly said, “The line-up will be announced in due course.”

Norton Is a Judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK

Norton might have been a good addition to BGT, as he has experiencing judging a talent show. Since 2019, he’s been a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. He also judged RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs the World last year.

The Irish comedian is known for his presenting skills. Since 2007, Norton has hosted The Graham Norton Show, a UK chat show in which he interviews celebrity guests. He’s also served as the BBC’s television commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2009.
