Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams recently pulled out of a planned charity appearance amid controversy over comments he made about contestants on the show. Rumors are swirling that Walliams is leaving BGT after 10 years.
David Walliams Pulls Out of Charity Appearance
According to ITV News, Walliams was scheduled to attend the Place2Be Carol Concert this Thursday in London. Earlier this month, his Twitter account shared that he was “delighted to be reading” at the event to “raise vital funds to support children’s #mentalhealth.”
Place2Be told ITV that Walliams is no longer attending the event due to “scheduling conflicts.” The charity added that it wouldn’t comment further, saying, “Our focus remains on delivering our important work supporting children’s mental health in schools across the UK.”
Walliams is currently the subject of controversy due to comments he made to his fellow judges during Britain’s Got Talent tapings in 2020. He reportedly made sexual remarks about a female contestant and called an elderly contestant a “c*nt” three times.
The judge issued an apology for the “disrespectful comments,” adding, “These were private conversations and like most conversations with friends, were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Walliams Is Rumored to Be Leaving Britain’s Got Talent
The Sun recently reported that David Walliams plans to leave Britain’s Got Talent after 10 years on the judging panel. The outlet quoted a source as saying, “He hasn’t taken the decision lightly, but it just feels like time to move on and focus on his other projects.”
Meanwhile, Walliams’ fellow judge Amanda Holden recently said of the upcoming 16th season, “I would like to see the judging panel look like it did before. I think we’re a great team, we’re a family.” When asked if she was “Team David,” Holden replied, “Of course I’m Team David.”
Simon Cowell had a more vague answer, saying, “I think for me, the most important thing – and I had this conversation the other day. It’s always about the talent. If you don’t have great talent, you don’t have a show.” The judge added, “That’s all I care about.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for BGT recently said that Walliams’ potential return is “very much up in the air at the moment,” adding that a decision has not yet been made.
