Female Artists Dominate the 2024 Grammy Nominations

The 2024 Grammy nominations were announced on Friday, and female artists are leading the pack. SZA earned the most nominations with nine, while Taylor Swift made history with her own nods.

SZA’s album SOS was nominated for Album of the Year, while her song “Kill Bill” earned nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best R&B Performance. Her collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers, “Ghost in the Machine,” was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
The singer also earned nominations for Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best Progressive R&B Album, Best R&B Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance. Her collaborator Phoebe Bridgers also earned an impressive amount of nods, with seven. That includes several with her group boygenius.
Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish all have six nominations each this year. In fact, Billboard points out that solo female artists make up six out of eight nominations in both the Album of the Year and Record of the Year categories.
Cyrus’ album Endless Summer Vacation was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, while her song “Flowers” earned nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Taylor Swift Makes History with Her Nominations
Swift received six total nominations for her album Midnights, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Her song “Anti-Hero” was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
The singer made history with her nominations. Billboard reports that Swift is the first songwriter to earn seven total nominations for Song of the Year. She was previously tied with Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie. Notably, she has never won in the category.
Swift is also tied with Barbra Streisand for the most Album of the Year nominations for a female artist, with six. She has already won the category three times — for Fearless, 1989, and Folklore. Will she add a fourth trophy next year?
The 2024 Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Fans can watch the ceremony live on CBS.
