Leo High School Choir is Different Than Other School Choirs

In 2026, Leo High School is celebrating their centennial, as part of the celebration, the school posted an interview with Leo High School Music Instructor, LaDonna Hill. Within the interview, she discusses just how different the Leo High School Choir is than other choirs.

“We don’t have what we would consider traditionally as auditioning for choir, we look for students that are really interested and want to be a part of choir,” she said. “Then I get on a journey of just being flexible with those students… We teach them based on the skills that I have. It’s a lot of being flexible I think, but also being passionate, communicating what it is we want to accomplish in that particular song.”

In the choir, members follow the four golden rules, “discipline, dedicated, committed, and responsible.” The choir director also says her members are team players. When talking about this group, Hill admits the students are the reason she continues coming back to teach.

“I’m inspired when I see my students come in with little to no prior experience, and they exceed whatever the standard is that I set, and they exceed it based on hard work,” she said. “That’s inspiring me and that’s one of the reasons why I’ve returned for so many years because of these amazing students that I’m just blessed to be able to work with year after year.”
