Gordon Ramsay Shares ‘Best Advice’ from Father-in-Law
While appearing on a new episode of Jake Humphrey’s High Performance podcast, Ramsay recalled a time when he and his wife Tana were younger, and he asked her father to loan them £20,000 for a deposit on an apartment.
Ramsay said he went to lunch with his father-in-law and paid for the meal before asking for the money. His father-in-law replied, “I’ll have another lunch with you when you sell your Porsche.”
“Here I am driving around in a flash f*cking 911, and we didn’t even have a f*cking house,” Ramsay said of his and his wife’s situation at the time. “We didn’t have a flat. We didn’t have a roof over our heads. It was the best advice he ever gave me. Sell your f*cking Porsche.”
Ramsay said that he did sell his Porsche, and he ended up buying it back 10 years later. While Ramsay might have thought he was sharing a great piece of financial advice, some fans on social media were quick to poke fun at him.

Fans Make Fun of Ramsay’s Advice
Ramsay’s advice to sell your Porsche in order to afford the apartment you want didn’t exactly resonate with people online. As one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote in response, “Just off to sell my Porsche, thanks gents.”
“Obviously taken a short clip from a long conversation so not taking too much from it,” another user wrote. “But imagine having a Porsche and then the cheek to ask your father in law for £20k.”
Someone else joked, “Great advice, just going to sell my Porsche and ask for £20,000 so I can buy a place to live. Housing crisis solved.”
