Former One Direction star Zayn Malik got fans talking this week when they noticed an update to his registration with the band’s company. This sparked speculation that Malik had rejoined One Direction and inspired further discussion of a possible reunion for the group members.
Did Zayn Malik Rejoin One Direction?
According to Capital FM, the original five members of One Direction were named directors of the company PPM Music Limited in 2011. The name was in reference to the Princess Park Manor complex where they lived after appearing on The X Factor.
After Malik left the band in 2015, he was apparently terminated as a director of the company. His bandmates were also terminated in 2022, as they pursued solo careers. A new filing related to the company got fans talking about Malik possibly rejoining the group.
The Sun published an article about the situation, claiming that Malik had been renamed as an “active director” in PPM Music Limited. However, Capital FM writes that the group members are all listed as “resigned” directors, albeit with “significant control.”
The change of details for Malik which sparked online discussion earlier this week was apparently an update to his address, listing his country of residence as the United States. A fan account on X (formerly Twitter) urged fellow Directioners not to “panic.”

Is a 1D Reunion Happening?
Although this new Zayn Malik update might not be as major as fans were hoping, there has been talk of a potential One Direction reunion for years now. Following the death of Liam Payne last year, the band members have apparently reconnected.
“They’re all still mourning but are checking in on each other and feel closer than they have in years,” a source told Us Weekly last December, adding that they were “in talks to do one last reunion show” before Payne’s death.
In the meantime, Malik and his former bandmate Louis Tomlinson are set to reunite for an upcoming Netflix docuseries, in which they embark on a road trip around the United States. A release date has not yet been announced for the project.
