Blake Shelton Gets Honest About Predicting Kenzie Wheeler as the Winner of The ‘Voice’
In the Blind Auditions, Kelly Clarkson blocked Shelton during the 22-year-olds performance of “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” It was a four-chair turn that was bittersweet for Shelton, the country king.
Kenzie decided that he wanted to be a member of Team Kelly which made Shelton totally jealous about missing the mullet sporting artist on his team. Since then, Shelton has been waiting for his big chance to steal Kenzie, but he is locked in as a member of Team Kelly.
Kenzie and Avery Roberson went head to head during The Knockouts where he sang Luke Combs’ “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” He solidified his place in the Live Performances and as a member of Team Kelly.
“You’re probably gonna win this show” Shelton said during The Knockouts.
For his performance tonight, Kenzie sang “Red Dirt Road” by Brooks & Dunn.
Kenzie’s performance was so good that Clarkson was hooting and hollering while giving him a standing ovation. Carson Daly shifted the attention over to Shelton after the performance who had some things to get off of his chest.
“Kenzie last time I spoke to you I learned a very important lesson” Shelton confessed. “I said to you that I thought you were going to win the show and that has since been used against me so many freaking times that I deeply regret saying that to you now.”
Though Shelton does not have Kenzie on his team, he does have some incredibly talented contenders who are looking to win the show. He is the winningest coach in The Voice history, so expect him to pull out all the stops to help his artists advance to the finale this season.
“Good job and I hope Nick doesn’t win” Shelton finished his commentary.
Clarkson praised Kenzie for rising to the occasion and challenging himself with this week’s performance. She can’t wait to see how Kenzie uses his songwriting skills because she is confident he will be making it to the next round of the competition.
