Reading Time: 2 minutes
Former The Voice coach Blake Shelton made a surprise appearance on this morning’s episode of Today to respond to the anchors’ Halloween costumes. Peter Alexander and Laura Jarrett dressed as Shelton and his wife Gwen Stefani.
Blake Shelton Appears on Today for Halloween
Every year, the anchors on Today dress up in themed Halloween costumes. This year, the theme was Kellyoke, in honor of Kelly Clarkson moving her talk show to New York City. The anchors dressed as iconic musicians like Taylor Swift and Sonny & Cher.
Weekend anchors Peter Alexander and Laura Jarrett paid tribute to couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani for their costume. They dressed up like the pair in their music video for “Happy Anywhere.” Alexander was in a classic flannel shirt and jeans, while Jarrett wore a green trucker hat and cowboy boots.
The anchors got to find out what Shelton thought of the costumes from the man himself. He shared a video message reacting to their looks during this morning’s show. He said their costumes were “pretty damn good.”
“You’re no Hoda playing Blake Shelton, but still pretty dang good,” Shelton said, referring to the time Today co-host Hoda Kotb dressed up as him. “You guys did great. Sounded great, looked great. Happy Halloween.”
