Blake Shelton may be exiting The Voice, but that’s not stopping his wife Gwen Stefani from coming back to the show. Recently, the country superstar shared his thoughts on Stefani’s decision to accept NBC’s invitation to be a coach again.
Blake Shelton Says Gwen Stefani Has Reasons to Come Back to The Voice
In an exclusive interview with Extra, Shelton took the time to answer some questions related to The Voice. The “All About Tonight” singer then discussed Stefani’s return to the show next season.
“She’s got a lot of reasons to keep coming back to The Voice,” he said. “First and foremost, I know she absolutely loves this job.”
According to Shelton, Stefani was even shocked when The Voice called and asked her to join the cast once more. This has prompted the “Honey Bee” singer to assure her that network definitely wants her to reappear as coach.
“She’s just very passionate about music and she’s passionate about working,” he said. “I mean, I don’t know anybody that finds ways to stay as busy as she does. It’s impressive.”
For Shelton, Stefani’s persistence is one of the reason why she’s been so successful in her career. Nonetheless, despite of her wife’s decision, the country music icon is all set with to “watch some TV” as a consequence of his retirement.
He Reacts to Reba McEntire Replacing Him on the Show
In the same interview, Shelton also reacted to country music veteran Reba McEntire filling his empty seat on the show. Clearly, the singer is ecstatic to know McEntire’s presence in season 24.
“There’s a couple of things about Reba that makes her so special. First of all, she’s just so authentic,” he said.
Last year, Shelton revealed that he wanted Neal Mccoy to replace him in The Voice. Nevertheless, while several fans agree with his suggestion, there were also a number of people who believe that McEntire is the best person to take over the coaching panel’s country seat.
“She was born with this raw, natural talent that’s just unbelievable,” Shelton said. “People will finally maybe start to realize what an incredible vocalist she is.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Shelton admitted that he’ll miss the friendships founded throughout the entire series. Furthermore, the singer recognizes that he might not see other cast members of The Voice “knowing how this business goes.”
“That’s a tough reality but we all have to kind of move on and do what we got to do,” he said. “This isn’t a career choice. This is just a life choice for me.”
