Blake Shelton Comes Up with New Name For Ariana Grande Fans on ‘The Voice’

Blake Shelton is proving that he still has big comedy chops on The Voice Season 21. The eight-time winner established the most hilarious rivalry with new coach Ariana Grande this season. All of the coaches have such a great bond on and off-camera. In a bloopers reel, Shelton shared a new name to call Grande’s fanbase.
Blake Shelton Has a Fun Name for Ariana Grande’s Fans
Shelton decided that Grande’s fans should be called “Piraniana’s.” It does have a cute ring to it. John Legend pointed out that a majority of Grande’s fans call themselves “Arianators.” Grande clarified that there is an ongoing debate about what her fanbase should be called. The coaches turned to the audience to get their opinions. One fan responded “Tiny Elephants.”
In 2013, Grande posted a tweet that simply said “tiny elephants.” It was a term she decided to call her fans at the beginning of her career. The name stuck for a little while before her fans became popularly referred to as Arianators. The Voice Season 21 coach has a massive global fanbase with over 269 million Instagram followers.
“I originally was calling them The Ariana Army, then the Tiny Elephants, I don’t know how that came about, but it stuck for a while,” she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2016.
Shelton has his own huge fanbase combined with his wife Gwen Stefani‘s. Their fans call themselves “Shefani.” Shefani’s love all of the couples musical collaborations and their obvious connection that blossomed on The Voice. Shelton and Stefani got married in July, which had all of the Shefani’s crying tears of happiness. Even Grande is a fan of the couple.
“Oh, I love that,” she said about their fanbase name. “I stan Shefani.”
The Coaches Love to Joke Around on Set
Another hilarious backstage moment was when a member of production gave the coaches cues backstage. He told Legend and Kelly Clarkson to enter the theater and look towards “Kelly’s vom” for Shelton’s entrance. “Looking towards my what?” Clarkson asked. She was baffled by the word “vom.” He clarified that a vomitorium is an entrance. We all learn something new every day.
In one scene, artist Bella DeNapoli was about to say who she was going to pick as her coach. Clarkson realized that none of the coaches even asked her who she wanted to pick, a staple for each audition that airs. She laughed and caught on to the mistake before finally asking Bella. These little blips make fans fall in love with the coaches even more.
Those that have followed The Voice closely know that Clarkson always has some jokes ready for the audience. She is constantly teasing Shelton to try and get under his skin. In this reel, she tells Shelton to spell a really big word and she will give him whatever he wants. Legend lets out his signature belly laugh as the crowd goes nuts for The Voice coaches on-screen antics.
