American Idol Star Ava August Teases New Song
“I got my heart broken, and I was so depressed,” Ava says to the camera in her new video. “I literally couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t breathe without this person in my life. But you know what? I didn’t let it get the best of me anymore. And I wrote a song about it. Here’s the first verse.”
As Ava sings on the track, “I thought we were more than friends / I thought that you felt it too / Gave you every piece of me / Guess I thought that it’d be cool / To share all my thoughts and hopes and dreams / Cause you were the boy in everything.”
She goes on to tell the song’s subject, “I’ve never felt this way before / You’re slipping away and I’m not sure.”
Ava previously teased the song on Instagram, calling it “the saddest song I’ve ever written” in one post and hinting that the song will be released on February 24 in another post. Fans expressed their excitement to hear more.

Last year, Ava released a new single called “Living Room.” She posted an Instagram video around the time of its release reacting to hearing the track played on the radio. As she wrote, “I’ve dreamed of being on the radio since I was a little kid.”
The singer also posts both covers and originals on her social media and YouTube accounts. She also posted a visualizer for “Living Room” last year.
