American Idol Season 17 runner-up Alejandro Aranda just released a new album under his moniker Scarypoolparty. The 27-year-old singer has been teasing the huge project for months now, and it’s finally arrived.

The album, titled The Act of Forgiveness, has the same dreamy quality we’ve come to expect from one of Idol‘s most unique artists, with a few exciting twists. To accompany the release, Aranda also debuted a new music video for one of the tracks.

‘American Idol’s Alejandro Aranda Releases New Album

Aranda’s new album is one hour and 45 minutes long, offering 21 tracks to enjoy. The project is full of the signature guitar and breathy vocals that made Aranda a fan favorite on American Idol in 2019.

However, the singer also mixes it up on several tracks, including the jazzy opener “Daily Dose of Her Smile,” as well as “Friends,” which features a twangier sound accompanied by piano. Other tracks, such as “Movie Screens” and “Felios,” have a more atmospheric, electronic vibe. “Spelloutriver” and “Holy Rejection” have a rocker edge. Then there’s the title track, which is an 11-minute instrumental piece.

A standout on the album is “Blesser,” which features some epic instrumentation and strong vocals. There’s a mysterious quality that brings to mind a James Bond theme. Aranda shared the song on YouTube back in 2016, and he later performed it on Idol. The studio version takes it to a totally new place.

To go along with the release of The Act of Forgiveness, Alejandro Aranda also released a new music video for the song “Beach House.” The clip depicts a complicated romantic relationship with a magical tinge. The song’s cinematic quality lends itself to the visual storytelling.

Aranda posted his excitement about the new album on Instagram, thanking producer Rob Mathes for “creating the strings and adding his genius to the album.” American Idol also showed support on social media, tweeting that the album is “on a new level.”

The singer is heading out on the X Ambassadors’ Beautiful Liar tour starting this October, after playing the Bonnaroo Music Festival in September. Check out the full concert schedule here.
