‘AGT’ Recap: Judges Get Booed as Live Shows Continue
Reading Time: 3 minutes
America’s Got Talent Season 18 returned on Tuesday night for another live performance show, as 11 acts took the stage for their chance to earn America’s votes and make it into the Finals. That included two Golden Buzzer acts.
Be sure to get your votes in on the show’s website or through the official app. Voting is open until Wednesday at 7 a.m. ET. The results will be announced on Wednesday night, as only two acts will make it into the Finals.
Two More Golden Buzzer Acts Compete in AGT Live Shows
During Tuesday’s live show, Mzansi Youth Choir took the stage. The group made history during auditions when they earned the show’s very first audience-chosen Golden Buzzer. This week, the choir delivered a stunning performance of “Everywhere” by Fleetwood Mac.
They earned a standing ovation from the judges, with judge Simon Cowell calling their act “spectacular.” To make things even more special, family members of the late AGT contestant Nightbirde were in the audience. Mzansi Youth Choir sang her song “It’s OK” in their audition.
The night ended with another Golden Buzzer act, as Putri Ariani performed. The young singer, who is blind, previously won Indonesia’s Got Talent and earned Cowell’s Golden Buzzer for her AGT audition. This week, she sang a haunting rendition of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2.
Putri earned a standing ovation, with Cowell saying he was speechless and thanking U2 for clearing their usage of the song after seeing Putri’s audition. Sofia Vergara told Putri, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard something more beautiful in my life.”
Judges Get Booed for Negative Critiques
Tuesday’s show wasn’t all positive. Judges Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell ended up getting booed by the audience for their critiques of a few acts. That includes Phil Wright & Parent Jam, who received a red buzzer from Mandel.
The judge explained that he didn’t believe it was a million-dollar act deserving of a spot in Vegas, earning backlash from the crowd. Later, Mandel was booed again for saying that Japanese brass band MOS should be part of a bigger act.
Meanwhile, Cowell was booed for telling magician Trigg Watson that his presentation was “annoying.” Mandel ended up agreeing with him to a certain extent, saying that while the beginning and end of the act were exciting, the middle got “boring.”
Warrior Squad, Herwan Legaillard Impress
The Golden Buzzer acts were definitely standouts during Tuesday’s show, but there were other acts that also impressed the judges. That includes Warrior Squad, the acrobatic dance group from India. They performed on a giant swing, flying through the air and creating human towers.
Mandel compared the group to past AGT contestants V. Unbeatable, while Vergara described their performance as “mesmerizing” and “spectacular.” Warrior Squad is definitely a contender for one of the two spots in the Finals.
The panel was also wowed by French sword swallower Herwan Legaillard, who combined his dangerous talent with balancing and aerial acrobatics. He finished the performance by spinning in the air over the judges’ desk.
Mandel told him he deserves to be in the finale, while Heidi Klum said Herwan was her favorite act of the night. Will he earn America’s vote and make it into the Season 18 Finals? We’ll have to wait until Wednesday’s results show to find out.

I have little doubt that the 4 acts highlighted: Putri, Manzi, Herwan, and Warrior will be in top 5 and are the contenders for top 2. Putri will surely be one of them. I thought MOS was really good too. They may get in top 5 but no way they snag a spot in top 2. These 5 were my favorites but I was most impressed with Herwan!
