‘AGT: Champions’ Details + Who We Want To See Return?
Reading Time: 3 minutes
AGT: The Champions is returning for a second season on NBC, and we’ve been getting some exciting details recently. While the season’s acts haven’t been announced yet, we do know who will be judging and voting.
Read on for everything we know about Champions so far, as well as a few ideas for which of our favorite AGT acts should return for a chance to be named the best in the world.
Who Are The ‘AGT: The Champions’ Judges And Host?
AGT recently revealed the judging lineup for the second season of Champions, and it features some familiar faces. Regular judges Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel will return, as well as former AGT judge Heidi Klum. However, Season 14 judges Julianne Hough and Gabrielle Union will not be judging Champions.
Instead, BGT judge Alesha Dixon has been announced as the fourth judge on the panel. Meanwhile, Terry Crews will return as host after emceeing both AGT: The Champions Season 1 and Season 14 of AGT.
Who Will Vote For ‘AGT: The Champions’?
Because AGT: The Champions is pre-taped, fans at home don’t have a say in who moves on or who wins the season. The judges can hit the Golden Buzzer to send an act to the finale, while a team of “superfans” chooses the other finalists and winner.
If you want to be a superfan, you can find more information here and fill out the application on this website. The show will tape in October at the Pasadena Civic Center in Los Angeles. Remember that applying does not guarantee you’ll be chosen.
When Does ‘AGT: The Champions’ Premiere?
At the end of Season 14, host Terry Crews announced that AGT: The Champions Season 2 would be airing in January 2020. This follows with the air date for Season 1 earlier this year.
A more specific premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but the first season premiered on Monday, January 7, with the finale on February 11. The show may keep to a similar schedule next year, although we don’t know for sure.
Which Acts Should Return For ‘AGT: The Champions’ Season 2?
AGT: The Champions brings back winners and fan favorites from Got Talent franchises around the world. So which AGT acts should return for this season? Considering Shin Lim won last season of Champions just months after winning AGT Season 13, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Season 14 winner Kodi Lee return.
It would also be great to see V. Unbeatable get another chance at a win, considering how disappointed fans were that they didn’t place higher this season. And how about comedian Ryan Niemiller, who emerged as a dark horse and finished in third place?
It seems unlikely that Season 11 winner Grace VanderWaal would return, but you never know. Or how about Season 9 winner, magician Mat Franco? Then there’s The Sacred Riana, who appeared on AGT Season 13 as well as BGT: The Champions. Maybe she’ll return to the states with her spooky magic act.
We can’t wait to find out which acts, from AGT and around the world, will be competing next year.
