Garcia and Chigvintsev were partnered up on Dancing With The Stars season 25. It must be noted that during this time, the WWE diva was still engaged to John Cena, so their chemistry was really just within the ballroom space. The professional partnership lasted until the seventh week of the competition, when they were eliminated.
December 2018: They Spark Romance Rumors
After Garcia and Cena called the engagement off, she and Chigvintsev tried to reconnect. Later, the duo flickered dating speculations after they were spotted at a farmer’s market together.
January 2019: Sources Confirmed They are Dating
In early 2019, multiple sources have reported that Garcia and Chigvintsev were dating. While one source stated what they were having at the time was “nothing serious,” the insider revealed that the two had “strong attraction.” During late January, Garcia gave a little weight to their relationship, saying that she was “just kind of having fun.”
March 2019: Garcia Gives Sneak Peek of Her Relationship with Chigvintsev
Garcia made their relationship Instagram official by posting a picture of her kissing Chigvintsev’s cheek. Yet, after the public’s extreme support, Garcia clarified that she’s “not fully taken” by the DWTS pro. Be that as it may, the former WWE star stated that she adores Chigvintsev.
April 2019: They Attend Val Chmerkovskiy, Jenna Johnson’s Wedding
Garcia and Chigvintsev attended Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson’s wedding on April 13, 2019. After posting their “cute snaps” on Instagram, Garcia has once again cleared up that Chigvintsev was not her “boyfriend.”
July 2019: They Announce They’re “Boyfriend and Girlfriend”
During Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards, the duo sweetly posed for photos on the red carpet. At the event, Garcia stated that he needed someone like Chigvintsev to “make me stop and be present.” Chigvintsev then said that Garcia fulfills what he’s missing in his life. The following week, the couple confirmed that they were already “boyfriend and girlfriend.”
November 2019: Chigvintsev Proposes to Garcia in France
Back in early January, Garcia and Chigvintsev posted photos of the proposal and engagement ring on Instagram. Alongside the snaps, the Garcia sister announced that she said yes to Chigvintsev’s proposal in November in France.Â
January 2020: Garcia Announces She’s Pregnant
In late January, Garcia and Brie Bella announced they were both pregnant at the same time. According to Garcia, being pregnant was a “total surprise.” Wanting to be a mom her “whole life,” Garcia stated that she “couldn’t imagine not having that family life.”
June 2020: They Reveal They’re Expecting a Baby Boy
During their baby shower, Garcia and Chigvintsev revealed that they would be having a baby boy. The two knew the sex of their baby after they fired a cannon of blue confetti. Garcia and Chigvintsev became first-time parents together on July 31, 2020, welcoming Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev to the world.
September 2020: Garcia Shares Having a Postpartum Depression
In an episode of The Bellas Podcast, Garcia stated that depression has made her “mean” and “super depressed.” She also shared that the situation led her to feel anger toward her fiancé.
November 2020: They Try Couples Counseling
Four months after they welcomed their son, Garcia revealed that she and Chigvintsev had been seeking couples therapy. According to the former WWE star, they wanted to find out how to balance their relationship for Matteo.
June 2021: Garcia, Chigvintsev Postpone Their Wedding
Around June 2021, the couple was busy remodeling their new home. As they were not done designing the house, they decided to postpone the wedding. After their relationship got “a little rocky for a bit,” their wedding failed to happen in fall 2021 as originally planned due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.
In early 2022, their wedding was pushed back once more because of Chigvintsev’s pneumonia. Later, Garcia announced on The Bellas Podcast that she was re-evaluating her wedding plans with Chigvintsev due to financial reasons.

After nearly three years of getting engaged, Garcia and Chigvintsev wedded in Paris, France. They then went to visit the Eiffel Tower days upon tying the knot. Garcia uploaded a series of snaps on Instagram, showing their cute family photos in front of the famous architecture.
