Britain’s Got Talent returned over the weekend for the second week of Semifinals, as two more talented contestants earned a spot in the Series 18 Finals. That includes 11-year-old guitarist Olly Pearson, who earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Simon Cowell.

Olly Pearson Earns Golden Buzzer in BGT Semifinals

The judges and hosts get to press one Golden Buzzer each during the Semifinals, and this was Simon Cowell’s week to use his. He chose to give the honor to Olly Pearson, an 11-year-old guitarist who previously earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Amanda Holden in his audition.

For his Semifinals performance, Olly performed a guitar medley of songs by Bon Jovi, AC/DC, and Gun N’ Roses. He looked like he was having a blast jumping around the stage. At the end of the performance, sparks flew out of Olly’s guitar as he was lifted up on a platform.

Before the judges had a chance to share their thoughts on the performance, Cowell reached over to hit the Golden Buzzer, prompting gold confetti to rain down onto the stage. That means Olly went straight through to the Finals.

Cowell called the performance “bloody brilliant.” Holden said she “couldn’t be more delighted” that her Golden Buzzer from the auditions is going to the Finals. Bruno Tonioli called Olly a “total rock idol.” Alesha Dixon chimed in to say that he’ll “be playing stadiums in no time.”

Singer Stacey Leadbeatter Earns Public Vote

In addition to Olly Pearson, one more BGT Semifinalist from this week’s show was sent to the Finals thanks to the public vote. The contestant who earned the second spot this time was singer Stacey Leadbeatter. She took the stage on Saturday night to sing “Anyone” by Demi Lovato.

Stacey belted out the song’s emotional lyrics, impressing the judges. Amanda Holden told her that she “nailed that,” while Bruno Tonioli said she “should be proud of yourself.” Alesha Dixon acknowledged that it’s a hard song to sing, but said she did well. Simon Cowell predicted that viewers at home would love her.

He turned out to be right, as the public voted to send Stacey through to the Series 18 Finals. She and Olly will join last week’s chosen finalists The Blackouts and Vinnie McKee. There are still three more Semifinals episodes left until the finale.
