Simon Cowell Says He’d Take a Lie Detector Test to Prove BGT Isn’t Fixed

Britain’s Got Talent is once again facing rumors of a rigged competition. This comes in light of contestant Max Fox earning the Golden Buzzer. For those who may have missed it, Fox took the stage after trying to get an audition with Cowell for over 19 years. After sitting in the audience, the singer begged for the ability to audition for the show.

During a recent segment on iTV’s This Morning Cowell and Bruno Tonioli sat down to discuss the ongoing season of BGT. Cowell admitted that it wasn’t set up by producers.

“On my life, I swear to god that was not a set up,” Cowell said. “I honestly thought okay, someone’s put him there….I just thought we’d never show it, but he wanted to sing in front of me and I thought why not, just let him do it?”

The last time BGT faced set up rumors was in 2023, with Rapper MB14. At the time, many were upset because the beatboxer was famous in the United Kingdom. MB14 earned Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer on their season.

Ahead of 2023, BGT faced set up rumors in 2022. At the time, the Golden Buzzer was given to The Greatest Showman singer, Loren Allred. At the time, fans thought Amanda Holden giving Allred the Golden Buzzer was unfair, since she was the original singer of “Never Enough.”
