Blake Shelton Jokes That He Will Not Be Sober For The Rest Of The Year
GettyImages It’s been a rough year for pretty much everyone. With the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the entire world and so much unrest especially in America, Blake Shelton is finishing out the year the way we wish we all could, with alcohol.

Blake sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to talk about how hard this year has been and how he has been keeping busy amid the pandemic. The pair had last seen each other at the Grammy Awards where they both lost out on some of the top awards of the night. This made Blake laugh before saying “2020 sucks and I refuse to spend another minute sober!” He raised a glass that said “I drink, get over it” filled with what we assume was alcohol.
The singer had to cancel his tour because of the rapid spread of the virus which has enforced social distancing rules. “We canceled my tour on March 12, like literally as we were building the stage for the production for that day in Omaha, Nebraska,” he said. He did win an ACM Award for his song “God’s Country” but of course had to receive the award virtually because award shows have also had to take coronavirus precautions.

“In the country music world, most of us are all friends and so you look for that moment when you’re up there accepting that award and you see all of your buddies that lost to you and you can give them a wink or flip them off as soon as you go to a commercial break or whatever,” he said.
Blake quarantined with girlfriend Gwen Stefani and her kids at his Oklahoma ranch. The pair are now back in California where they just bought a home as they prepare for the season 19 premiere of The Voice. The pair are still going strong and the Shefani fans are definitely hoping to hear wedding bells in the near future.
Blake Has Not Been Shy About Drinking Alcohol In The Past
One of Blake’s most asked questions is what he drinks while coaching on The Voice. He put those questions to rest by posting a video. “One of the number one questions I get asked every week is, ‘What are you drinking on the show?'” he said in the Twitter video. “I’m tired of the question, so I’m just gonna show you what I’m drinking.” It turns out while filming, Blake drinks a mix of Smithworks vodka, Sprite and ice.
He did however file a suit in 2015 against a gossip tabloid that claimed he checked himself into rehab for a drinking problem. “Not only was I not in rehab or headed to rehab when it was published, but I also do not have a drinking problem,” he said at the time. “All of this was false and went so far beyond prior stories about me that I had previously denied with humor.”

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a drink, especially given the fact that 2020 has been a hard year for everyone, even celebrities.
