The Voice Recap: Night 3 of the Battles

It’s week two of The Voice Battles and it’s another night full of talent. Tonight we are one step closer to the live shows, which are just a few weeks away. Performing tonight were several Blind Audition favorites, and they surely did not disappoint!

Pryor vs Kaleb (Team Blake)

These close friends went head to head, singing the song Don’t Do Me Like That. Blake says this song is a challenge for both of these artists when it comes to performing it. Both put their music career on the back burner and now it’s time for them to come back to it. Ultimately, Blake’s decision was to go with Pryor based on his unique voice, the road is not over for Kaleb because he’s been stolen by Kelly Clarkson!

Winner: Pryor / Steal: Kaleb joins Team Kelly

Genesis vs Mia (Team Adam)

Though these two female singers have entirely different styles, they compliment each other well. Singing Kelly Clarkson’s, Because of You in front of the singer herself was a challenge but they both successful performed it and it made Kelly very happy. Adam chooses Mia because her performance was more complete, however, Genesis performed for her life and we’re a little surprised she wasn’t stolen.

Winner: Mia

Justin vs Molly (Team Kelly)
These two country artists have a similar story, having both grown up in a conservative upbringing while facing staying true to themselves and coming out. Singing Burning House, both artists performed the song in their own styles and had solid performances. Justin’s, however, won Kelly’s vote and he’s onto the next round.

Winner: Justin

Drew and Miya (Team Adam)
Another similar backstory pairing, as these two former struggling artists take the stage, they share their dream about wanting to make singing their career. Singing Knocking on Heaven’s Door, they clearly have two very different styles but do a wonderful job. Kelly says that she is inspired by Miya’s heart in her performance and the fact that there were two different interpretations of one song. Ultimately, it’s Adam choice and she picks Drew. However, the end of the road is not near for Miya because she’s stolen by Alicia!

Winner: Drew / Steal: Miya joins Team Alicia

Jordan vs Wilkes (Team Blake)

Mentor Trace Atkins called this battle from the beginning saying “there doesn’t seem to be a clear winner.” Singing Nobody to Blame, both Jordan and Wilkes had a strong chance of making it to the next round. However, Blake ultimately chose Wilkes because of his unique voice.

Winner: Wilkes

Team Alicia: Jaclyn vs Britton

The best was saved for last with this rendition of Thinking Out Loud. Alicia says that Britton has wisdom in his voice, and Jaclyn’s voice is so pure.  Ultimately, between these young singers, Alicia went with Britton but Blake stole Jaclyn and they’re both off to the next round!

Winner: Britton / Steal: Jaclyn joins Team Blake
