‘The Voice’ Recap: Knockouts Wrap Up as John Legend Uses His Steal
Reading Time: 2 minutes
The Voice Season 22 returned on Monday night, as the three-way Knockouts wrapped up, and coach John Legend used the last steal of the season. Next week, the Live Playoffs will kick off, featuring the artists who made it through this round.
John Legend Steals Sasha Hurtado on ‘The Voice’
Going into the final episode of the Knockouts, John Legend was the only coach with a steal left to use. He finally used it at the end of the night to steal Sasha Hurtado from Gwen Stefani’s team. Sasha was previously stolen by Stefani in the Battles from Camila Cabello.
The 18-year-old was up against Alyssa Witrado and Daysia in the Knockout. She performed “Make It Rain” by Ed Sheeran, and the coaches had nothing but praise for her. Even Stefani called it “a perfect performance.” That’s why it was so shocking when the coach chose Alyssa as the winner for her performance of “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen.
Daysia was eliminated, but it wasn’t the end of the road for Sasha, because Legend hit his button to steal her and send her to the Live Playoffs on his team. Sasha shared her excitement to join Team Legend, saying she almost picked him as her coach in her Blind Audition.

There Are No More Group Acts Left in the Competition
Last year, sibling trio Girl Named Tom became the first group to win The Voice. However, as of Monday’s Knockouts episode, there are no more groups left in the competition this season. Sister duo The Marilynds was eliminated on Team Legend.
The sisters showed off some great harmonies on a performance of “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol, but it wasn’t enough to earn a spot in the Live Playoffs. They were up against Emma Brooke and Kim Cruse. Legend chose to keep Kim on his team after her performance of “Can’t Stand the Rain.”
Previously this season, married couple The Dryes made it into the Knockouts on Blake Shelton’s team, but they lost to four-chair turn Bodie. That means that all the remaining acts in the competition this season are solo artists.
Monday’s episode also saw Justin Aaron making it through on Team Gwen, Brayden Lape winning the Knockout on Team Blake, and Devix keeping his spot on Team Camila. Next Monday marks the start of the Live Playoffs.
