Comedian Russell Brand has been accused of sexual assault by several women. Following the reports, the remaining dates on Brand’s current comedy tour have been postponed. Brand has spoken out to deny the allegations.
Russell Brand Accused of Sexual Assault
Over the weekend, three British news outlets published accusations of sexual assault against Brand from multiple women, including one accusation of rape. The alleged assaults reportedly occurred between 2006 and 2013.
One unidentified woman has accused Brand of raping her in his Los Angeles home in 2012. Another accuser says Brand assaulted her when she was 16. According to the BBC, the Metropolitan Police have since received a report of an alleged sexual assault in 2003.
The New York Times reports that, according to promoters, the remaining dates on Brand’s comedy tour will not go forward. “We don’t like doing it,” read a statement from the Theater Royal Windsor, “but we know you’ll understand.”
It has also been reported that Brand’s publisher, Bluebird, has paused its work with him. Bluebird was scheduled to publish Brand’s guide to overcoming additions, titled Recovery: The Workbook, in December.

Brand Has Denied the Allegations
Brand denied the “serious criminal allegations” against him in a video posted shortly before the accusations of sexual assault were published by British news outlets. Brand said he’s spoken about a “time of promiscuity” in his past, emphasizing that these encounters were “always consensual.”
The comedian claimed that there were “witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narratives” presented by the recent reports. However, a lawyer for Brand reportedly did not respond about providing this evidence.
The recent reports also included complaints about Brand’s workplace behavior from unnamed workers at Channel 4, where he hosted a talk show. They said Brand would ask staffers to approach female audience members so he could set up meetings with them.
During a comedy show in London on Saturday night, Brand alluded to the accusations, telling the crowd, “There are obviously some things that I absolutely cannot talk about and I appreciate that you will understand.”
