Nicki Minaj Stuns in “Do We Have A Problem?” Music Video

The queen of rap is back at it again. After teasing the track for multiple weeks on social media, Nicki Minaj dropped her newest single and music video for “Do We Have a Problem?” featuring Lil Baby. In addition to the song release, Minaj dropped a pretty intense music video.
“Do We Have A Problem?” Plays Out As An Intense Short Film
If you expected a music video without a storyline, you’re in the wrong place. The majority of this music video actually plays out like a short film. It begins with Minaj and Lil Baby in an interrogation room. From context clues, viewers shortly know that Minaj is a secret agent. Lil Baby had been given the task to kill someone, but he met with Minaj to forward it to her. Even though Minaj seemed hesitant, she decided to take the task.
After the film portion ends, the video goes on to set the scene of a high end auction. People flood into the room while “Do We Have A Problem?” plays in the background. Minaj’s partner Detective Flint was outside of the room while Minaj made her moves. She set off smoke bombs then held up two guns to get people to leave the auction.
The room emptied then the viewer sees Lil Baby and Minaj drive to Cuba with the “Do We Have A Problem?” in the background. The agent’s coworker detective meets the two in Cuba, where they hold guns up to his head. From there the duo reveals that the task was a ploy, the rest of the song plays in the background.
Minaj Mixes Old, New Styles Together For Recent Release
On top of dropping the music video for “Do We Have A Problem?” Minaj also released an official audio video. Within this video you can get a real feel for the song itself. After listening to just the audio, it’s obvious that this is another hit for the rapper. Throughout her career she’s released different types of rap, but this song molds the style of some of her biggest hits together.
I thought this song sounded like a mix of styles from her albums The Pinkprint (2014) and Queen (2018). Fans flooded the comments of the singers YouTube videos, expressing how happy they are with this release.

With the release of this new song, Minaj shared on The Late Late Show With James Corden that she is choosing to enjoy every moment of her music career. In turn, she decided to create the intense music video.
Minaj studied acting before her rap career took off, so she wanted to create something that was authentically her. The rapper expressed that this was the first time she felt like she brought her music into her lane.
