Netflix Shares First Trailer for New Series ‘Simon Cowell: The Next Act’

Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming docuseries Simon Cowell: The Next Act, in which the talent show judge and music mogul sets out to put together a new boy band. The show will be available to watch on December 10.

“As much as I love my job on TV, I miss where I started — signing artists and working with bands,” Simon Cowell can be heard saying in the new trailer for The Next Act. “There is a massive opportunity. I am gonna find a new boy band.”
The preview features clips of several young singers auditioning for their chance to be in the band. Cowell shares that 16 of those singers will be invited to Miami to spend a week with his team. It looks like there will be plenty of drama among the contestants as they compete against each other.
The series will also feature appearances by Cowell’s partner Lauren Silverman. In one clip, they appear to be arguing, as Silverman tells Cowell, “I never complain. I’m just there for you, because that’s what you do when you love somebody.”
“This is unlike any show he has made before,” reads the show’s description. “From raw open casting calls to the release of their debut single, this is an all-access pass for viewers to catch every moment of Simon’s next chapter. Will he strike gold once again?”

How Do Fans Feel About the Series?
Fans in the comments of the new trailer aren’t entirely convinced that Cowell’s latest attempt to create a boy band will work. As one user wrote, “Really? He literally tried this a few years ago and it failed so badly. Sigh. I don’t think this will work either.”
“Simon has done this soooooo many times and it’s never gone anywhere,” wrote another commenter. “About five years ago there was a program about him forming a girl band and a boy band, never heard from the bands again after that program.”
There were also quite a few comments about Cowell’s appearance, with one person writing, “Plastic surgery is not your friend.” Someone else commented, “When you already have a normal face but not satisfied enough.”
