The Voice Season 20 contestant Gihanna Zoë has impressed the coaches during her time on the show and earned some amazing comparisons. The 17-year-old was recently chosen by coach Kelly Clarkson to remain on her team for the Semifinals.

Gihanna is one of the youngest artists left in the competition, but she has a talent beyond her years. Clarkson has described the singer as her “powerhouse,” and we couldn’t agree more. Now she’s heading into the Top 9 for a chance at making it to the Finals.

‘The Voice’ Star Gihanna Zoë Is Also a Talented Writer

According to her The Voice bio, Gihanna won a statewide writing competition. In addition to writing songs, she has also written two movies, four plays, and 12 short films. She also has a love of poetry, and her Instagram account includes a Story highlight devoted to some of her favorite writing.

Scroll through her feed, and you’ll see even more inspiring quotes. Gihanna recently tweeted that she was spending all her money on poetry books, adding, “I think that’s perfectly okay.” She listed Billy Chapata and Lang Leav among her favorite poets.

Gihanna Has a Passion for Theater

Gihanna started singing in church when she was a kid (her dad was a pastor), and she eventually learned piano. She attended a performing arts school and got involved in theater. For her Blind Audition, Gihanna chose to sing “She Used to Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles, from the Broadway musical Waitress.

Before her audition, Gihanna shared that she relates to the song’s lyric, “She’s imperfect, but she tries.” She said she wanted to share that message through her performance.

She Has a Big Following on TikTok

Gihanna has by far the largest TikTok following of any artist left in the competition this season. As of this writing, she has over 109,000 followers, as well as over a million likes on her videos.

The singer posts a variety of clips, including lip syncs, dance routines, and fun games with her friends. She’s even posted videos with fellow The Voice contestants Rachel Mac and Carolina Rial. She also uses the platform to remind fans to watch the show and vote for her.

Gihanna Zoë Has Been Compared to Beyoncé

Two of the coaches on The Voice have compared Gihanna to Beyoncé during her time on the show. During the Battles, she performed “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, inspiring Nick Jonas to make the comparison. He said that if he closed his eyes, he would have thought Beyoncé was singing.

“We’ve heard you compared to Beyoncé and today even more than ever, you were channeling the queen B,” John Legend said after Gihanna performed Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” in the Live Playoffs. “The bravado, the elite level of professionalism, is just beyond your years and so impressive.”

Sara Bareilles Loved Her Performance in the Blind Auditions

After Gihanna performed Sara Bareilles’ song “She Used to Be Mine” in her Blind Audition, Bareilles herself tweeted the video and added several clapping hand emojis. Gihanna thanked Bareilles for her tweet, sharing that it was “an honor to be able to sing your song.”

Her talent has also drawn the attention of Season 19 The Voice contestant Cami Clune, who tweeted that her Live Playoffs performance was “ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!”

We’ll find out soon if Gihanna makes it to the Finals of Season 20. Either way, we’re sure she’s just getting started.
