Mark Ballas Returned to Dancing With the Stars Because of Executive Producer Conrad Green
Ballas recently revealed that Conrad Green was the reason he returned to the series. Ahead of the season, he received a call from Green, the executive producer of the series. For those who may not know, Green was the original executive producer on DWTS. Before DWTS‘s move to Disney+ he reclaimed his position.
According to Ballas, Green asked in the call if he would be “down to do it” to which Ballas answered, “it sounds like fun.”
Aside from missing the creative aspect of competing in the show, Ballas noted that coming back sounded like a good time. He is excited to be apart of the season once more with his celebrity partner, TikTok sensation Charli D’Amelio.
Ballas, D’Amelio Have Begun Season Rehersals
Even though the pair revealed that they’re still in the early stages of their rehearsals, they acknowledge that they’re getting to know each other’s dance styles. Known for his outstanding choreography and being a fan favorite, Ballas will be sure to coach D’Amelio into the Top 3 of the season. Ballas is hoping to reclaim the Mirrorball trophy this year. He has previously earn the trophy with partners Kristi Yamaguchi (season six) and Shawn Johnson (season eight).
In a recent interview, the Mirrorball champ explained that D’Amelio’s background in dance be more of a hindrance rather than a good thing. He explained that it takes a different kind of discipline to win the Mirrorball Trophy. Fans of D’Amelio are hoping she’ll catch on to the discipline as the season goes on. So far the duo has been doing great and having fun during their rehearsals while keeping the competitive aspect present.
Fans of the show are already excited for Ballas to return, openly expressing their anticipation for the upcoming season. Adding to that, D’Amelio currently boasts the second highest following on TikTok with over 145 million followers.
In a recently created Reddit post, fans have acknowledged their excitement for the pair. Even though the season hasn’t started yet, it’s clear that Ballas and D’Amelio are on their way to become a fan favorite of the season.
Season 31 of DWTS premieres on Monday, September 19 on Disney+ and will be the first live competition show to stream on the platform.
