Former Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron has nothing but nice things to say about new addition Alfonso Ribeiro. The network recently announced the DWTS champion as a co host, alongside returning host Tyra Banks.

Bergeron recently posted two photos of himself and Ribeiro on Instagram. In the caption, the former DWTS host wrote, “Now, getting Conrad Green back as DWTS showrunner is only ONE of their smartest decisions. Here’s the other one.”

He added a clapping emoji and told Ribeiro, “Congratulations, buddy!” Bergeron’s former co-host Erin Andrews commented on the post, writing, “I agree on both! Congrats @therealalfonsoribeiro.” Pro dancer Cheryl Burke also commented with heart emojis.

Ribeiro himself also responded to the kind words, commenting, “I just hope I can make you proud.” Bergeron answered, “I have no doubt,” adding a winky face and a thumbs-up emoji.

Interestingly, Ribeiro has now taken two hosting gigs previously held by Bergeron. The other is America’s Funniest Home Videos, which Bergeron also used to host. Ribeiro told People that he wants to “bring back a sense of the happy and the fun, and the family atmosphere, that this show has always felt like for me.”

Bergeron Left the Show in 2020

In 2020, Bergeron was fired from Dancing with the Stars, along with co-host Andrews. Tyra Banks returned in their place in the next season. Bergeron had been a host on the show since its first season in 2005. Many fans were unhappy over his exit, and Banks received criticism for her hosting style.

Although fans have hoped that Bergeron would make a return to the show in Season 31, he recently made it clear that his “ballroom hosting days are done.” However, he added his belief that “the show will be better with Conrad Green back as showrunner.”

In addition to Ribeiro and Banks, all four judges — Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli — are returning to the table this season. A premiere date hasn’t been officially announced, but it’s expected to be this September.
