Simon Cowell’s fiancée Lauren Silverman has officially changed her last name to Cowell ahead of the couple’s wedding. Silverman opened up about the decision to change her name in the new Netflix docuseries Simon Cowell: The Next Act.
Lauren Silverman Takes Simon Cowell’s Last Name
According to Us Weekly, Lauren Silverman confirmed that she had changed her last name to Cowell in an episode of the Netflix docuseries, which follows Cowell’s journey to create a new boy band. Silverman reportedly made the change on Cowell’s 65th birthday last year.
Silverman shared that she had kept the last name of her ex-husband, Andrew Silverman, for their son Adam, who is now 19. After Adam’s 18th birthday, however, she shared, “I don’t really want to have my ex-husband’s last name anymore.”
“That just feels right for now,” Silverman said of changing her name, before adding, “Not ‘for now,’ but I mean now, forever!”
There was speculation that Cowell and Silverman had already tied the knot after fans discovered that Silverman had created a new Instagram account with the handle @LaurenMichelleCowell. However, the couple appears to still just be engaged.

Silverman Calls Herself ‘Mrs. Cowell’
“Look, I am Mrs. Cowell,” Silverman told You Magazine about her name change. “I have created a life with Simon, we have a child together, we have a solid relationship.”
She added that changing her name to Cowell was “about the unity of our family and us having the same name.” Silverman said she had considered going back to her maiden name after her divorce, explaining, “But then I thought no, this is our son’s name, and so for his sake I kept it.”
Cowell and Silverman have been together since 2012, and they welcomed a son named Eric in 2014. In 2021, they got engaged during a Christmas vacation to Barbados. They have yet to walk down the aisle.
“We will not be having a big, grand wedding with a white dress; we are very low-key,” Silverman told You Magazine. “We are a bit kooky and unconventional in the way we do things – it is what it is, you know? Simon is Simon! I might be in a wheelchair, and you’ll have to wheel me down the aisle.”
