American Idol Season 24 returned on Monday night for the final episode of auditions, as the judges listened to performances from even more talented singers. Several contestants shared emotional stories about their lives.
American Idol Singers Share Emotional Stories in Auditions
The first audition on Monday’s new episode came from 24-year-old Rae, who has been a fan of the show since childhood. She shared how happy she was to have her family with her at her audition after her father suffered a stroke. Rae’s performance of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” impressed the judges, as Luke Bryan said he couldn’t believe she had never auditioned before. Rae earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week.
Another emotional audition from Monday’s show came from 22-year-old Mor, who shared that he was raised by his grandmother after his father murdered his mother when he was just 2 years old. Mor performed an original song about his mother called “Strong.” Carrie Underwood said of his performance, “It’s like we weren’t here, in a good way.” Mor earned a standing ovation, three “yes” votes, and a surprise from his grandma.
The final audition from Monday’s show came from 27-year-old Chris Tungseth. The singer opened up about his mom’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, and later his father’s death from leukemia. Chris performed an original song called “Lonely Road.” Underwood told him, “I love your presence,” saying his voice is “powerful.” Chris earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week from the American Idol judges.
Another notable audition from Monday’s new episode of American Idol Season 24 came from a singer named Mary Jo Young, who previously made it to the Top 24 of Season 19. Notably, she performed a duet with Benson Boone during Hollywood Week which was previously unaired.
For her Season 24 audition, Mary Jo performed an original song called “Don’t Call Me.” Bryan said she has a new “air of confidence.” Underwood said she has “a lot of personality.” Mary Jo earned three “yes” votes to receive a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week
Another singer who impressed the American Idol judges during this week’s episode was 22-year-old Bella Emry, whose performance of “I’m a Little Crazy” by Morgan Wallen prompted Lionel Richie to call her “very cool.” Bryan said she “didn’t hit a bad note.” Bella earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week.
The judges also liked 23-year-old Bartly, whose performance of “Texas Sun” by Leon Bridges had Richie complimenting his “soulful top end.” Another impressive singer from this week’s episode was Chloe Lauren, a stay-at-home mom whose cover of “Maybe” by Sienna Spiro had Underwood calling her voice “really special.” Bartly and Chloe both earned Golden Tickets.
A very special edition of the notorious Hollywood Week kicks off next Monday, as the singers who earned Golden Tickets in their auditions head to Nashville for their chance to stay in the competition. Only 30 singers will move forward in this emotional round of the competition. Who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comments below.
