Katy Perry, Lionel Richie to Perform at King Charles’ Coronation Concert

American Idol judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie have an exciting new gig lined up, as they’re set to perform at King Charles’ coronation concert in May. The concert will also feature Andrea Bocelli, among others.
Katy Perry, Lionel Richie to Perform at Coronation Concert
The coronation concert will take place on May 7, one day after Charles and his wife Camilla are crowned at Westminster Abbey. According to People, Perry and Richie have both known King Charles for years through their charity work.
Perry has been an ambassador of The British Asian Trust since 2020. The trust was co-founded by Charles to address poverty in South Asia. Meanwhile, in 2019, Richie was appointed the First Global Ambassador and First Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group for The Prince’s Trust. The organization, founded by Charles in 1976, works with disadvantaged youth.
“The concert will celebrate a new chapter in the nation’s history, with themes of love, respect and optimism, celebrating the four nations, their communities and the Commonwealth,” the BBC said of the upcoming event in a statement.

Who Else Is Performing at the Concert?
The concert will also feature a performance from Andrea Bocelli with Bryn Terfel. Take That’s Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen will also be on hand for their first live show since 2019. Meanwhile, Freya Ridings will perform with Alexis French.
The Coronation Choir will also perform at the event with The Virtual Choir. According to the BBC, the concert will feature “a broad mix of music spanning pop to classical, along with spoken word and dance performances reflecting arts and culture from around the UK and the wider Commonwealth.”
The concert will be broadcast live from Windsor Castle and will be attended by an audience of 20,000 people. “Lighting up the Nation” will accompany the concert, as iconic locations in the U.K. are lit up in sync with the show.
