In an attempt to maintain balance between being a mom and a pop superstar, Katy Perry knows she has to curb certain habits. The “Firework” hitmaker recently revealed that she’s no longer the hard drinker that she was.
Katy Perry Says It’s “Shameful” to Be Hungover When Her Daughter’s Around
During the final show of her debut Las Vegas residency PLAY, Perry claimed she’s already a changed woman. According to her, the idea of having her daughter see her in a state of hungover is embarrassing.
“I was crazy in my twenties but now I have a toddler who wakes me up at 6:30 whether I am hungover or not. It’s shameful to be hungover with your kids. I just hear, ‘Wake up mum let’s watch Minions,” she said.
The “Dark Horse” singer shares three-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with fiancé Orlando Bloom. At 39, Perry admits that drinking more than two shots of alcohol is going to knock her out the next day.
“Bad times. I am reevaluating my whole life the next day,” she said.
The pop star went on and confessed her respect for artists like Pink who can consistently attend to the needs of their kids despite the busy schedule.
“I have never done a tour or a show before being a mother and I want to say I now have a newfound respect for all the mums out there who do it. They are raising kids, taking them to preschool, doing the sandwiches and partying. You guys are rock stars. I am so glad I joined you,” she said.
Back in September 2022, Perry shared that she and her fiancé were not interested in hiring a full-time nanny for their daughter. During her days off from PLAY, the pop singer activates her “mom mode.”
“I am working a lot, and I’ve always worked a lot,” she said. “I have a wonderful nanny, but I don’t have a full-time nanny because I feel like if I had a full-time nanny then I would never be able to know how to care for my daughter like I’m meant to.”
Daisy Dove Makes First Public Appearance
In a segment of Perry’s Saturday evening performance, Daisy Dove marked her first ever public appearance. The pop star’s three-year-old baby was among the crowd to witness her mom’s closing night. On stage, Perry took the time to give Daisy a sweet shoutout before launching into her 2008 single “Hot n Cold.”
“Daisy, I love you so much,” she said. “You’re my best friend. I’m so glad you’re here.”
For her special occasion, Daisy wore a red-and-white polka dot dress featuring cream-colored sleeves and a Peter Pan collar. Her look was then completed with a pair of pink headphones to protect her ear from loud music.
During the same night, the “Roar” performer also expressed gratitude to her family for their support. Perry also took the time to pay tribute to her fiancé.
“To my partner Orlando,” she said, “For being an incredible support system and an amazing father—I love you.”
“I created this show after the birth of my daughter, Daisy Dove,” she added. “When I met her, it was like all the love I was ever searching for finally showed up. She made me whole, and she healed me, and she showed me how to play again. So, this show is for everyone’s inner child and for the hope that maybe if we could all see life through the eyes of a child, we would be free.”
