How Wrestling And The Power Rangers Made Simon Cowell
Whenever you hear the stories of how famous people became successful there is always the breakthrough moment, that time that was a perfect mix of luck and hard work that led to everything else. For Simon Cowell that involved wrestling and The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as he told Harvey Levin on Objectified. Wait…what?
Simon was a down-and-out record producer who was flat broke when he had the bright idea of merging the television and music business. The way he did this, (a long time before American Idol), was that he purchased the rights to the music used on the WWE, (then called the WWF), from wrestling mogul Vince McMahon. All those kids who loved wrestling, (like me), bought those records up. He then did the same thing with the music from The Power Rangers. Yes, THOSE Power Rangers.
Those sold millions of copies and put Simon on the map as a heavy hitter. It was that which eventually led to the American Idol judge’s panel. Have you always wanted to hear Simon sing The Power Rangers theme? Well, you are in luck.
