Gwen Stefani stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers to dish on her upcoming wedding to country superstar Blake Shelton. The 51-year-old “Slow Clap” singer finally answered the question about whether or not a celebrity will be performing at the reception.
Shelton thought it was best to keep their engagement a secret for a week before announcing it to the world, Stefani said in the interview. During this time, she appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers where the host apparently failed to notice her massive engagement ring.
“It was fun to kind of like hold on to the secret for a week,” Stefani confessed. “Blake was the one who was like ‘wait, when are you going to tell people?'”
The couple announced their engagement in October in a social media post. Since then, fans have been anticipating all of the intricate details of the wedding including which music superstar will perform.
“When Blake was here he said that Adam Levine owed it to you guys but he also said he wouldn’t want Adam to be in the wedding band because he thinks his music is too boring and Adam saw that,” Meyers said.
Levine’s name is one of the few that have been tossed around as fans speculate who will perform at the wedding. Miley Cyrus also volunteered to sing while Levine suggested Shelton might choose American Idol judge Luke Bryan.
“I definitely would love to have Adam sing at our wedding but the thing is that I feel like we’re not going to have a wedding band,” Stefani said settling the debate. “I feel like we’re just going to go with like a playlist.”
The Guest List will be Kept Small
When Meyers brought up that planning entertainment may be difficult due to all of the musicians that will be in attendance at the wedding, Stefani made a shocking revelation.
She emphasized that the couple is trying to keep the wedding “very simple.” She also hinted that the guest list will include just her parents and a few other family members. Do not expect to see too many familiar celebrity faces attending this wedding.
“It’s not like the queen and king are getting married or something like that,” she said.
Here’s where we disagree. Stefani and Shelton’s wedding will certainly be the most talked-about events when it does happen. They are two of Hollywood’s biggest stars. The king of country and the queen of pop have been dating since 2015 after meeting on The Voice. Since then they have had multiple hit duets, coached alongside each other, and had fans completely obsessed with their relationship.

Stefani also performed her new single “Slow Clap” on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
Stefani and Shelton had originally put their wedding on hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but with restrictions easing up, don’t be surprised if the nuptials take place this summer.
