Grimes Premieres New Song After “Privacy Invasion, Bad Press, Online Hate and Harassment”

Alter Ego judge, Grimes, shared a new tune to her Instagram. This techno-futuristic artist shared a song following the news of her “semi-separation” from Elon Musk. Although she doesn’t come out and say these lyrics are directly toward her ex, it definitely seems like the break up sparked this one.
Within her Instagram post, she shared that this tune was written and produced in a week. It’s her response to “privacy invasion, bad press, online hate and harassment by paparazzis” this week. This song takes a very interesting approach to a self love anthem. The point of this tune is to talk about how everything people hate about her is what she loves. But, the song has very heavy ties to the topic of death.
“It f***ing sucks to be awake, Oh Lord I pray my soul to take, nobody understands because,” Grimes sings. “Everything they hate, is everything I love.”
Although many fans have commented on her post stating that the best songs come from a break up, this song doesn’t seem like it is directly tied to Elon Musk. She’s been in the public eye more because of the break up, but she’s also now judging on FOX’s show Alter Ego. I’m not saying the influx of attention to her isn’t from their public break up, but there are other factors to think of here. I’d say there’s no hidden meaning behind this song, I think she seriously has been burned one too many times by the paparazzi.
When Musk talked about their separation he talked about how they still have plenty of love for each other. Unless he was fully putting on a complete facade, they seem to still be on good terms. I don’t think this song is trying to expose that their relationship was different behind closed doors. But, Grimes and Musk are truly the only ones who will ever actually know that. I think if anything, the break up fueled her to work quicker on this song.
Grimes Looks Amazing in This Video
She is seen underneath a blanket with a fan blowing directly at her. Her hair is bright white and she is wearing chunky winged liner. To be honest, she looks magnificent in this video. Grimes is seen posing with a lightsaber, sunglasses, necklaces, and more in this video. As the video goes on, it’s clear that this singer is becoming more confident.
In the beginning, she is lip syncing along with the song in a very powerful way. About halfway through the song she begins modeling with the fan blowing at her. It’s almost like half way through this video she began remembering who she is. The lyrics for this song are a bit alarming since it mentions a lot about death, but this song is kind of a bop and I would download it. We hope she’s doing alright following the break up.
